Tynemouth Aquarium allows you to access underwater oasis and get face to fin with charming sea creatures.
Whether they’re from local shores or tropical seas, in the river shallows or from the deep depths of the ocean, there is so much to discover at Tynemouth Aquarium.
You can look out for black-tip reef sharks, European lobsters, short snot sea-houses, shrimp and so many more.
Tyne-mouth Aquarium is based indoors but all shows are based outside.

Tyne-mouth Aquarium is idyllically located on Long Sands beach front in Tynemouth and is just a 20 minute drive from Newcastle Upon Tyne city centre.
If you’re reaching them by car, follow the A19, taking the A1058 (Coast Road) signposted to Tynemouth. Then follow signs towards Tyne- mouth Seafront.
There is a carpark but this is run via council, therefore you have to pay.
Or if you are travelling by metro, the best stop is culler-coats with a ten minute walk along the seafront.

If you travel by the bus, get the Go North East service from Gateshead to the coast. It is service number 1 and it stops off just by the aquarium or the Arriva 306 from Newcastle city centre also stops nearby.

Tickets may be bought online, or at the ticket desk.
Tickets that are purchased online are valid for one day only within 6 months from date of purchase. Simply show your confirmation email by print out or smart phone.
Children under the age of 3 are admitted for free.
Visitors with additional needs can purchase a ticket which includes 1 free carer (with proof of carer status) However, this can only be done via the desk only not online.
And you can access a family pass; 2 Adults and 2 Junior for £50.50.

They are open every day of the year except for Christmas Day. They are open from 10-5pm (last entry 4pm).
Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, New Years Eve & New Years Day from 10am-3pm (no last admission).
Juniors are from 3 years old to 13 years old and over 13s have to pay adults price.

On arrival, there is a buggy park space, which makes it easier to get around as some of the spaces are difficult to get around with a pram.
The majority of aquarium displays are on one level and there are some steps to certain displays, however these displays can also be seen from the ground level.
And they do have stools around for the younger kids to stand on whilst walking around.
The walk around is stated that it takes 1hour. Your ticket is valid all day so you can come and go as you like; click here for other recommendations nearby.



We love watching the seal show and highly recommend- this is located outside. I have attached the time sheet but may change so always check online or at aquarium on the day.
They also have a restaurant onsite too.
