Invite |Gusto, Quayside – Family Meal Review.

The Quayside, Newcastle Upon Tyne NE1 3DX

We headed down to the quayside for our tea, around the back end of pitch and piano near the millennium bridge, is a hidden gem called ‘Gusto’.

As you walk through their well lit terrace, it really brings good vibes to your visit, and made it feel magical for the kids.

On arrival, the staff were really friendly and showed us to our table. They have two floors in their restaurant, the floors are gorgeously laid out and we were sat in one of their booths, which the girls got comfortable within the cushions.

Kids Meal:

The kids receive a little chef hat which is super cute.

The kids menu has been designed to keep the fun going though-out the meal, as you go towards the back of the booklet, there is plenty of colour fun and activities for the kids to get involved in.

Gusto offers a 2 or 3 course menu for the kids too, which is an affordable offer which lots of choice, even for the pickiest of kids.

They even offer a “create your own pizza” option for the kids too – totally wished the kids would eat more than just cheese and tomato on their pizzas so we could of done this.

They skipped the starters and went straight to the meal and picked pasta, one ordered plain tomato pasta and the other ordered pasta with meatballs.

I had to steal one of those meatballs to try, and they were cooked to perfection. They crumbled into your mouth as you bite in to them, they were delicious.

Both kids meals were great portions too, and they gave us the option of the kids meals coming with our meal or starters.

And after the main, they are offered a dessert – the girls were excited for their ice-cream, they eat it all and wanted more, they must have really enjoyed it. They had the option of chocolate, vanilla or strawberry.

For every kids meal purchased at gusto, they well donate a breakfast to a child in need.

Our meal:

Their A la carte menu has a great deal to choose from nibbles to starters, sides and mains.

I started with the nibbles and ordered their finest dough petals, I had heard so much about and was not disappointed.

I picked the petal doughs with slow-cooked pork and caramelised onions, served with garlic butter – even the kids liked these too. They were a great sized and you got a couple on your plate which you could share.

The mains were so hard to choose from as their was lots of choice from steak to burgers to pizzas and pasta.

I went for my original favourite pasta dish – carbonara, I throughly enjoyed this dish, it had a great creamy taste to it, the pasta was great value and I liked that they added parsley and black pepper to it.

We also got the Griffino pizza – this was topped with San Marzano tomato, roast chicken, pepperoni salsiccia, sliced red chilli, roasted onion, and Fior Di Latte mozzarella.

I loved how it arrived as a heart shaped and really brought the love the family meal. The pizza had a rich tomato base which was really mouthwatering, the chicken was cooked to perfection, the roasted onions really topped it and overall was delicious.

We also grabbed some sides too, for the first time I had Italian Fried Courgettes, overall the texture and taste was mouthwatering and I’m glad I had give them a try.

We also had Garlic and Sage Roast Potatoes – there both great options to get with your pizza if sharing or alone.
