We were kindly invited along to Hatchet Harry’s axe throwing range in Newcastle town centre. They are located near the back end of centre for life across in the little arch buildings.
Hatchet Harrys is Newcastle’s first urban axe throwing facility. The sport of urban axe throwing is taking the UK by storm and Harry’s will give you an experience you won’t forget.
On arrival we checked in at the desk at the back end of the venue, you have to complete a waiver as part of the sign in.
Once you have signed in, and complete your waiver form. You will showing to your allocated range and a member of staff go though the introduction with you, they will demonstrate on how you use the axe in a safe procedure.
You are also taught how to throw 4-6 different throws including standard shots and trick shots.
They also stay with you to supervise as you go along with a one hour booking, this costs £19.99 per person.
Once you have had a few turns, your group will have a tournament as a friendly competition which was really fun, especially if your competitive. The member of staff will mark this down so you know who the winner is and runner ups, etc.
They offer group sizes from 2 to 66, they can cater for most group sizes. Whether you would like to book a private lane for your group or come to one of their group throwing sessions, they can cater for any occasion.
Urban Axe Throwing is a great addition to a Newcastle Stag Do, a birthday or just something different to do. We really enjoyed ourselves and was great for letting of some stream.
You purchase a drink out the back too, if you get thirsty. This is card only but it really helps with all the thirsty work you end up completing.
You can also take your own food along if you get peckish, or want to pick up something from the town centre nearby to bring with you.
