The Queens Head – Sunday lunch.

6 Front St, Cullercoats, North Shields NE30 4QB

The Queens head has been overseeing Cullercoats beach for many years, however this is the first time visiting for lunch and we were not disappointed.

We parked outside the pub, which is free parking for customers. This is on the right hand side of the building but only small.

The Sunday lunch is served between 12pm and 4pm. On arrival, we let the staff know we had booked in as recommended, however they do accept walk-ins when they can cater. You can book via their social media accounts either Facebook or Instagram – or also via phone, 01912538052.

On a Sunday, it is Sunday lunch only – you can choose from 4 meats; beef, pork, turkey and gammon.

Sunday dinners are £9.50 or you can get a trio of meats for £10.95 – this is normally beef, pork and turkey, however, I asked if they could change the pork for gammon. The meat was cooked nicely, no fat and tasted delicious.

When the plates come out, your meat is stacked up and topped with stuffing and crackling, sided with potatoes and Yorkshire.

They give you side dishes of mash, turnip and vegetables to share out too. We shared this between three of us and we all got a decent portion amount of each.

They also offer a kids menu, if your child does not want Sunday dinner, they also have other options.

We also had dessert once we eat our lunch. The cheesecake of the day was the best cheesecake I have tasted. The cheesecake came alongside ice-cream and a strawberry.

I picked the old school cake and custard, they did not have enough for 2 adults and 2 kids, therefore, we asked if they could half one for the kids to share which was ideal but we still paid for 4 whole cakes and custards which was the only problem.

The old school cake tasted amazingly good.

They also have an outdoor area too which is great for drinks after the beach or on sunnier days.
