Whitley Bay Caravan site, The Links, Tyne & Wear, NE26 4RR

Whitley bay caravan park is surrounded with outdoor adventures, great walks and wonderful views.

Not only is the location key. They have plenty of facilities on-site too from the indoor swimming pool, arcades, night entertainment and much more.

On arrival, check in is 2 clock. You can pay extra to book in early as we booked in 1 hour beforehand.

You will receive passes that you need to access the complex.

There is plenty of car parking spaces around the site.

Accommodation:

They have a range of caravans of 2 and 3 bedroom. We booked last minute, there was only 2 bedroom models left, costing around £550 for the weekend which seems expensive but prices are up due to holidays and covid.

The sitting room/dinning area lead onto the kitchen with all the facilities you need to make yourself at home and cook in if needed – Fully equipped kitchen with fridge, cooker and microwave. They also have a Kettle, toaster, cutlery & crockery.

If you need to wash your clothing – they also have an laundrette on-site.

All accommodations are non-smoking.

The caravan was still pretty spacious for being a 6 birth caravan, the sofa pulled out into a bed. There was a double bed in the master room and 2 single beds in the other room.

Both rooms had space to put your clothing items and the main room also had a small vanity area to get ready along with a hair dryer too.

The main bedroom and passage way both have an entrance to the bathroom. All caravans have heating to for the colder nights.

  • dog friendly accommodation options
  • wheelchair friendly options

The on-site restaurant:

The boathouse bar and restaurant is great to have a sit down meal or a bite to eat with the family. They have you covered for both breakfast and lunch.

They have little activity sheets for the kids to keep them entertained whilst the meal is being prepared too.

The girls had pancakes in the morning which cost £1 as a deal, you can choose from banana or strawberries as toppings. There is also pancake options for adult portions with bacon and syrup too.

There is two options for breakfasts – one being traditional and other being a mega breakfast, which is the image above. You can also add extras on too.

We ordered via the app, which was quick and effective but you can’t remove items from your plate.

If you order Monday – Friday, you can order two breakfast for £7.99.

We also had lunch on-site too, I picked the lasagne which was basic pub grub scran. You had to purchase chips as a side.

We were informed by staff on the first day, you could only order via app for food which was a slight nightmare as their was only half the food options and for the kids meals, there was only pizza. Therefore, we had to pick sides for the girls as we struggled to order, but we then ordered at the tills after.

You can also order Costa hot drinks from the boathouse bar and restaurant too.

They also serve none alcoholic drinks at the boathouse bar and restaurant which is great for those who do not want to take part in the night entertainment at the lighthouse show bar.

They have a cocktail on draught that I had to try. You can also get jugs and their is plenty of bottles to choose from.

They also have a outdoor terrace which is great for the sunnier days, they have picnic tables and booth areas. You can take your drinks out here.

Day time facilities:

Play area:

The play-area is a pretty decent size covering around the outside of the restaurant which means you can sit inside and watch your child run around from the table.

Swimming pool:

They have a heated indoor swimming pool. There is always a slight que but goes down fast, you get a coloured band and they shout to you when time is over – this is normally 30 minutes.

They do recommend pre-booking activities and swimming sessions online, 6 weeks before you travel. Booking is easy, simply log into ‘Manage My Booking‘ online where you’ll be able to see the activities available on your chosen park and dates and reserve your slot. There is also a multi sports court.

Amusements:

The amusements is located at the front of the complex, you can take money out of the cash point on the front of the complex and there is also a change machine.

I always collect our 2p over the year and use them when we go to the caravan which saves a-lot.

They have lots of claw machines for a chance to grab some cute teddies and the girls love the £1 ones were you can win sweets and little toys – they loved the character purses.

We love a good game of air hockey, this is a small one for younger children and only £1 too.

This candy floss machine is so good, it makes your candy floss for £1. The excitement on the children’s face watching though the window.

Night entertainment:

The Lighthouse Showbar and enjoy some great entertainment thought-out for all the families of all ages.

Starting from bingo, which cost £12 per game, this is linked with other park dean resorts.

There is plenty of fun to take part in when madness and mayhem is on and those party dances with all your favourite ones from Saturday night to cha cha slide. And live acts.

You can meet the characters and have the opportunity to get your photograph.

They also had an under the stars outdoor cinema on too.
