Where to eat as a family and deals on over the summer holidays 2021.

I have put together a guide on family friendly restaurants/pubs in the north east and slightly beyond. There is also deals included on some companies.

Spanish City, Trenchers:

Trenchers at Spanish City offer three courses and a drink for £6.95 or you can request just the main course for £4.95.

The three courses come with a drink which the choices are milk, cordial or water. You can upgrade to a simply fruity for an extra 90p.

Spanish City, Children’s Afternoon Tea:

Spanish City have a range of afternoon teas available over on their website, including children’s afternoon tea.

The children’s afternoon tea is £11.25 pp.

Here is what is included:

Either, three course or afternoon tea would be perfect to pair up with a walk along the beach front or visit an attraction near by.

Gutterball, Milkshake and Bowling Offer:

Gutterball is running a Parent saver offer over the Summer Holidays from 19th July – 31st August. This deal is 2 games of bowling and a milkshake per child for £10. Monday – Friday before 6pm.

The Runhead, Family pizza offer:

The Runhead have a family Pizza Offer from
Monday 28th June – Thursday 29th July.

The offer costs includes 2 regular pizzas, 2 kids pizzas and 4 drinks from a limited menu and is available Monday to Thursday from 3pm until 6pm. This offer is £20.

Gosforth Civic Theatre, GCT Kitchen:

GCT Kitchen runs a kids menu, when an adult dines with them, they offer selected kids meals for free.

Gosforth Civic Theatre is a haven for families in the heart of Gosforth. Situated right next to Regent Centre Metro Station, the charity run arts venue runs a cafe throughout the week and selected evenings that celebrates fresh produces and local suppliers with it’s own dedicated kids menu to go alongside a delicious lunch and brunch menu for us adults.

Your little ones will not only love their cinnamon french toast sticks with maple syrup and summer berries, and little full English, but also their baked eggs and toasties too. What’s more kids can even eat FREE Monday – Friday until 2pm with an adult meal on selected meals only.

Eldon Square:

Enjoy a foodie treat with the little ones after a day of shopping, as indoor dining is now open. Keep meals exciting with their fantastic range of child-friendly restaurants for all – even the fussy eaters.

From favourites such as pizzas and burgers to delicious pasta and nutritious veggie options, they have rounded up the top child-friendly menus found there, at Eldon Square.

Umai Mi:

Come and dine as a family at Umai Mi with their delicious Pan-Asian kids’ menu, full of dishes that your little ones will love.

Starting at £4 for a Big Eat including a dessert! Choose from fish & chips, chicken fried rice, chicken katsu curry and more.

Ask Italian:

Make your kids Hap-Pea with Ask Italian’s tasty kids’ menu, starting from £6.95.

Ask Italian will serve up smiles for adults and children with their mini size cutlery for small hands, fun activity sheets and colouring menus, they operate a ‘kids eat first’ policy and offer a wide range of desserts to finish their experience the right way, with ice cream.

Bring your children out for a mini Mexican treat. From fajitas to quesadilla pizza and battered fish, Chiquito’shave something for even the pickiest amigos. Add a drink and a dessert for only £5.49!.

Chiquito’s activity packs and Mexican hats can really keep the little ones entertained while they wait for their food.

Frankie & Benny’s:

Be the best parents in the mind of your little ones! Enjoy a family meal, New York-style at Frankie & Benny’s. With so many choices for kids, the only problem will be deciding what to indulge in.

For when kids get a little wiggly, Frankie & Benny’shave got a wide range of fun activity packs to keep them entertained. Baby changing facilities and high chairs are available. And growing up here was one of my favourites too.

Offering a kids’ menu full of options including, mini chicken ramen, mini chicken yaki soba and crispy fish bites with curry sauce on the side, your kids will enjoy all the flavours of Asia in one dish.

Bella Italia:

Enjoy an Italian themed day at Bella Italia, with their fantastic kids’ menu full of flavour and all time favourites including, pizza, pasta and lasagne.

Alternatively, you can book on to one of Bella Italia’s pizza parties where the chefs can teach your little ones how to make a mean pizza.

TGI Fridays:

Start your day off with a fun-filled trip to TGI Fridays with the kids. All of their dishes come with tasty healthy snacks including, sticks of apple, cucumber, and carrot, which is one of their five-a-day!

Meals start from £5.25 and come with a fantastic Fridays activity pack! Your little ones can enjoy American style dishes including a hamburger, chicken tenders, hot dog, fish fingers, and more! Veggie options are also available.

You can also celebrate your children’s birthday at TGI Fridays. Book a table and enjoy a themed party from 17 May. Please note, birthday parties must be in line with government guidance and you must follow the rule of six.


Smashburger, as a proud family friendly restaurant, they are excited to welcome you back over the holidays.

Whilst you enjoy your go-to meal, your little ones can choose from delicious kids dishes including hamburgers, crispy chicken strips and more.

They can also show off their colouring skills with Smashburger’s activity sheets.

Walk-ins are welcome.


Enjoy your favourite Nando’s dish with the little ones. With new spices and lots of options for Nandino’s kids including, Nandino chicken burger, beanie burger, chicken breast fillet, spicy rice, corn on a cob and more, you will have a lot to choose from.

All sides and sauces come separate, which is great for the picky eaters. Highchairs are available at Nando’s Eldon Square.

Pizza Express:

Pizza Express children’s menu is too good to miss out on. Kiddies can indulge in dough balls, pizza, pasta, salad, many desserts and their Piccolo Activity Pack, all for £7.25.

Anglers Arms Sheepwash Bank:

Anglers arms sheepwash bank offers over the Summer holidays, Monday – Friday, 1 child eats for £1 when 1 adult purchase from main menu.

Their beer garden also has access to a big open green space that has a play park, skate ramps, football pitch and basketball net – it is so ideal for families. They also have colouring sheets and crayons for the younger children and they can even have a games box which has old skool games like dominoes and playing cards in if parents would like to play with their kids whilst they are waiting on their food.

There is also the amazing Wansbeck Riverside Park for a gorgeous riverside walk after lunch which is literally a 5-10 minute walk away.

There is a big car park and the restaurant is dog friendly, you can ask for a jar of dog friendly treats too.

Maldron hotel:

Check out our review over at the maldron hotel – if your town centre based. This included food and hotel room.

Porkys Lowfell:

Starting from Monday and running throughout the school summer holidays, porkys are offering free Kids meals.

Their Kids menu includes Pizzas, Burgers, Hotdogs, Nuggets, and Mac n Cheese, with sides of chips, corn, salads, and each meal comes with a drink included.

This will be available all day Mon-Thurs and Fri until 5pm, when ordered with a paid adult meal.

La Famiglia:

La famiglia are a family friendly restaurant, they always offer great service and interact with the little ones even if it’s making them laugh or helping them choice their meal.

The kids portion are a good size and affordable pricing, for a main and ice-cream after it costs £3.95. Read full review here.

Oli and Joes, Westerhope:

Oli and Joes have several Italian restaurants, We always go to the one in Westerhope. Their food is affordable and they are always a pleasure to visit with great service.

For a child’s main and dessert it costs £4.95.
