The woodmans arms is a beautiful country feel Instagram-able spot located in whickham. The pub is hidden on a road filled with trees, therefore they would state to drive slow so you don’t pass it.

We parked outside the pub. They have a disabled entrance with convenient parking and ramp access which is great for push prams and wheelchairs.

They do offer walk-ins but would recommend booking on the more busier days. You can also book online.

They have the option of both indoor and outdoor tables. Dogs are welcome in the bar and outdoor areas.

On arrival, masks must be worn and hand sanitiser stations are displayed. You must use the covid app to sign into the venue.

You will be greeted and shown over to your table, we’re the staff will take your order. They have the most gorgeous booths in areas, suitable for those family gatherings or drink nights with friends.

They have a range of dishes from lite snacks, appetisers, mains and desserts.

They have a wide range of tasty Vegan, Vegetarian and Gluten-Free options on offer also.

We were gifted an 2 course meal, we decided to go with the main and desert menu.

For the main, we picked the rump steak, which was served with onion rings, beef tomato, thrice cooked chips, roasted field mushrooms and watercress.

The steak was well cooked, no fat at all, which made me really enjoy my meal. The onion ring was one of the best I have tasted, this came as one big onion ring and the batter was made to perfection, the onion was not too soft.

The thrice cooked chips tasted delicious and I really enjoyed them with my peppercorn sauce.

My auntie and sister had came along too and purchased the log fire pizzas. They tasted amazing and have a hand full to choose from.

After our mains, we had desert. There was too much choose which made it hard to pick but I eventually choose to have the sticky toffee pudding, this came with ice-cream but they kindly let me have custard.

The sticky toffee pudding was also served with butterscotch sauce. This tasted so good, perfect if you have a sweet tooth.

They also do an Sticky Toffee Glory which has pieces of their homemade sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce, vanilla & salted caramel ice cream, topped with cream and chocolate sauce, my auntie got this and god it looked incredibly delicious.

My mam also ordered the White Chocolate and Passion Fruit Cheesecake, this is served with raspberry puree and chocolate chards. And the layout of the cake was to perfection.

They offer Sunday dinners too, and have the most beautifulest gin trees.

They also have a kids menu too.
