Maldron Hotel Newcastle is a 4-star hotel ideally located in the heart of Newcastle City Centre, within a minute walk of many shops, restaurants, bars and popular tourist attractions. Not far from Eldon Square and Northumberland street.

We were kindly invited to come stay for the night in one of their spacious and practical family suites.

On arrival, the entrance was covid safe with hand sanitiser in place, you also had to wear a mask when walking around the hotel.

When heading to the lift after check in, you must scan your pass to get onto the level you need. I found this great and made you feel a lot more safe when it came to the children.

All rooms have a sealed and cleaned sticker on, to show they have cleaned the room before arrival. This was also great with us experiencing an pandemic. The overall little details to the hotel, made us feel so much more comfortable and safe on our stay.

We stayed in their family suite. Their Large Family rooms contain 2 super comfortable King Koil Double beds with lots of space for the luggage that comes with a family trip.

The room had a plasma tv on wall which you could stream your online shows direct from your phone.

You are welcomed with special touches for the grown-ups including fluffy robes and a coffee machine. They also had a safe too if needed.

They also set up a little treat area for the kids with a goodie bag filled with activities and sweets. even popcorn for the movie night.

This included en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower. This included towels, soap, shower caps.

Dining at the Maldron:

3 course meal:

The Maldron hotel, Grain and Grill Restaurant serves an extensive lunch and dinner menu daily.

They have the most beautiful set out and the staff were so friendly and helpful.

Whether you’re after a quick lunch, or a steak dinner for two, our food menu and Maldron signature dishes will not disappoint. You can choose to dine in their bar, restaurant or in their outdoor dining area.

Dinner is served daily from 5:30pm to 9:30pm. This is opened to the public and you must pre-book. If you are staying over, on arrival you are giving a slip with a QR code to book a table.

On arrival to the restaurant, you had to wear a mask until seated. You had show your reservation and then you were taking over to your table and have your order taking once you looked over the menu.

We were gifted an 3 course meal on the night, there was a variety of dishes to choose from.

For starter, we had roasted Cajun halloumi, crispy baby gem salad and sweet chilli sauce. The halloumi was one of the best I have tried, full of flavour and spice. The salad was fresh and really made us excited on what the main was to bring.

For the main, we picked the rump steak with chips and peppercorn sauce. Would have been ever better with some onion rings on the side.

The layout did not look like much on arrival, but it was filling. The steak was cooked to perfection, and tasted amazing, I’m super fussy when it comes to steak and being cooked a certain way but the chef did a great job.

For dessert, we had Belgium wafers, butterscotch sauce and ice-cream. this was very sweet but melted in your mouth deliciously.

Kids menu:

The kids menu also had lots of options and the kids enjoyed being able to pick from mains and sides.

The girls both picked pizza, Summa had margarita and Roxy had chicken pizza. They both enjoyed them and eat it all which can often be hard when it comes to kids.

And after they had ice-cream which they could pick from a range of flavours. They came in a great size portion too.

They know how important it is to keep the tummies of little ones happy, which is why you will find a range of children’s dining options available. From a special kid’s breakfast menu (including pancakes!) to super afternoon teas, a children’s dinner menu and 24-hour pizzas.

Drinks at the maldron:

They also have an cocktail and wine menu. We had the best pornstar martini, and also an strawberry mojito. The presentation of the glass was high standard.

We sat in the courtyard after dinner and had our cocktails. They even made the girls mock-tails so they felt part of the night, this really put a smile on their faces.

We also were allowed to take our drinks up to enjoy whilst the kids wanted to go to bed which really made a difference too.
